Dear Colleague

Recently we have had a visit from a group of musicians calling themselves The Pop Project who provided a 90-minute fun-packed educational tour of popular music from the 1950s to current day.

Having spent a lot of time in education the three performers were able to maintain the interest and control of the children throughout this long session. We had great songs, fashion, history of audio media (records to mp3s) and video clips within the PowerPoint.

Two children were chosen to wear costumes from each of the periods covered; 12 children in total. This was a striking look at how fashion had changed over such a relatively short time.

Great songs and artists; Bill Haley, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Abba, Elton John, Bob Marley, Queen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Take That, Spice Girls and many more. It was a trip down memory lane and a great pop quiz. Wonderful to see the transition from record to ipod with physical examples.

Words were displayed for the children to sing along to and a short guide was given as to the melody prior to singing.

I would recommend The Pop Project to your school. For further information contact admin@popproject.co.uk
